A fabulous solid silver “hatching chick” pin cushion by Sampson Mordan & Co, one of the most prolific and widely acclaimed manufacturer of mechanical pencils and small silver and gold items, very popular at the beginning of the 20th century and highly collectable today.
The hatching chick pin presents the Rd number 475678, the Lion passant and the Chester Assay mark, and possibly the letter F for 1906 (the mark is rubbed and difficult to read, only the letter's tail is legible).

The hatching chick pin is in very good condition with only age related signs of wear. The marks are overall clear and eligible, except for the date letter which is rubbed and difficult to read, and the maker's mark which is partially rubbed. The velvet is in very good condition.
